Currumbin Valley Brewing, Sour Beer (like Blackcurrant Pastille), 375ml

What are we getting? Literally tastes like a certain drink that starts with ‘r’ and ends with ‘ibena’. Loads of blackcurrant up front with enough residual sweetness to balance out the tart back palate. Excellent mouth-feel that’s reminiscent of a slightly thicker sparkling grape juice, and super well balanced.

When to drink and what to pair it with? This beer should be drunk as a dessert beer, or as part of a good sour session. Would pair perfectly with sweet desserts & ice creams, or perhaps a delightful creme brulee.

Who is this beer for? Any sour lovers worth their money should try this beer. It’s a style of sour that Currumbin does very well time and time again, and you’d be remiss to go without trying it once. It’s also super approachable, and even your ‘friend’ that doesn’t like beer, could get around this tasty little number.

Is this beer readily available?
 This was Currumbin Valley’s GABS brew for 2021, and given how well it was received, it’s now available to everyone in cans online and at your local Beer Dealer. Considering its popularity this will most likely become as much of a staple as their grape bubble gum sour, but only time will tell.

Why do we like this beer?
 I find it hard to find a super enjoyable sour in this kind of style, often they’re not quite balanced, or the flavour isn’t quite there, but Currumbin Valley nails this in every way. Definitely one I’ll keep coming back too.

In 2018 we opened our first My Beer Dealer under Brewski, it’s one of the few drink-in bottle shops in Queensland and we’re super chuffed with it. 2020 was a big year for us, we launched our online store (you’re looking at it) and opened our second bricks ‘n mortar shop next to Eagle Junction station in Brisbane’s Clayfield (we’re super chuffed with it as well). Both of these have allowed us to complement our awesome beer range with our other passions of good wine and good spirits.
